Robbery is an extremely serious offence, in particular when the offender is armed. Robbery is an Indictable Only matter which means it will only be dealt with before a Crown Court.
Robbery is committed if a person uses force to steal and the court, when sentencing, will attribute a robbery to the following different levels, each of which attract different levels of sentence:
Level 1 – robbery with minimal force
Level 2 – involves the use of a weapon
Level 3 – involves the use of a weapon and use of force and/or serious injury.
